In our Yoga & Mindfulness for Diverse Abilities training, you will learn developmentally appropriate tools, breathing and relaxation techniques to facilitate individualized, group and family programs, as well as posture modifications using chairs and other props. Effective methods for encouraging cooperation, building community and developing social skills will be shared. Participants will focus on creating lesson plans and teaching in a variety of contexts.
Regardless of our challenges, each human being is uniquely able to develop greater body awareness, physical and mental strength and well-being. Learn how the practice of yoga can benefit people with a wide range of diagnoses and physical and developmental and learning challenges such as Trauma, Anxiety and Depression, ADD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome.
- Communicate the physical, cognitive, social and emotional benefits of yoga and mindfulness for people with a wide range of diagnoses, physical and developmental considerations as reflected in the growing evidence base.
- Share yoga and mindfulness based techniques to address specific needs using a variety of props to make yoga safe, inviting and accessible for all students.
- Develop, integrate and adjust appropriate practice strategies to support social and emotional learning, encouraging practical life skills for success in today’s world, such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration.
- Find and access resources and support for continued learning.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Yoga teachers, parents, teachers, school counselors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, caregivers and other adults who work with people with special needs. It is recommended that trainees have a minimum of one year yoga experience.

Participants must complete the required 18 contact hours. Candidates who attend all required training hours and successfully complete the certification process will be listed as a Certified ChildLight Instructor on our website.
Have you previously attended this training and need a refresher? Retake this training live for $100 -OR- Watch a previous training recording as often as you’d like over a 7-day period for $100.

Trainings are valid for Yoga Alliance CE hours and possible CEUs or PDPs from your credentialing organization.
Since 2014, ChildLight Education Company has been a Yoga Alliance approved Registered Children’s Yoga School, a Registered 200 Hour Yoga School and a Registered Prenatal Yoga School providing teacher training and continuing education.
ChildLight Education Company is a Continuing Education Provider through Courses4Teachers. The credit they offer is graduate-level professional development semester credit, through the University of the Pacific, designed for salary advancement and/or to renew credentials for teachers in districts across the U.S.
Vermont Student Assistance Corp. (VSAC)

Our Yoga & Mindfulness for Diverse Abilities Teacher Training is an IAYT Approved Professional Development (APD) course.
***Participants have also had CE hours accepted through Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT), and the Foster Care system in addition to PT, SLP, American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and individual school districts across the country.
