Join CEC trainer and Pediatric Clinical EFT practitioner & Yoga Therapist, Ann Biese, for a class designed to share all the benefits of tapping for kids. Join Kristen for a 4-week class series during which you will be introduced to iRest. Kristen will provide a brief introduction to iRest and the focus of the session. A 35-40 minute practice will follow; iRest can be practiced seated, standing, lying down or even slowly walking. Class will end with a brief Q&A and re-orienting.

Based on the ancient teachings of meditation, iRest is an evidence-based transformative practice that leads to psychological, physical, and spiritual healing and well-being.

Its practice is integrative as it heals the various unresolved issues and traumas that are present in your body and mind, and restorative as it enables you to recognize your innate peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life.

Gentle Yoga Series

In this one-hour gentle yoga class, we will focus on breathing techniques that help to balance, energize and calm the brain and nervous system while moving slowly through variations of accessible yoga postures. For the duration of the practice, we will make use of a wall and other supportive yoga props for extra assistance in our postures & in our transitions between postures. We begin lying down, taking plenty of time to warm up and lubricate all of the joints, experimenting with their full range of motion. This will prepare us for a safe and intuitive standing practice where we will link our movement with our breath, pulsating in and out of postures with an emphasis on proper alignment of the body. We wind down with our back against the wall to practice a few seated postures and try a brief meditation, ending with restorative postures that include a deep, healing rest.

Potential Benefits Include:

  • A stronger body
  • More flexible joints
  • Tools to calm the mind
  • A practice you can take anywhere
  • Connect with new people or quietly join in
  • Breath awareness
  • Improve sleep

Q: What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing appropriate for movement.

Q: Do I need a mat?
A: It would be helpful but it’s not required for this series.

Q: What else do I need?
A: We recommend having a water bottle close by and an open wall so you can sit with your back supported by the wall. You could also benefit from having a few blankets, pillows, two tissue boxes (or yoga blocks if you have them!), and a scarf (or yoga strap)

Q: Is it okay to eat before class?
Practicing on a full stomach can be uncomfortable. A small snack one hour before class should be fine. Prep dinner so it’s ready to eat as soon as class is over!

Q: Will this interfere with my religious practices?
A: No. Yoga is a lifestyle, not a religion, and is meant to compliment all religious practices.

EFT for Educators

Join Ann Biese, creator of ChildLight’s EFT & Tapping Workshop, for a class designed just for educators! She will also provide tools and techniques to use with your students in the classroom.

This four-week series is a self-care class for educators. Each class is only 30 minutes long and is similar to attending a yoga class however the focus is on EFT.

The live session in May is an 8-hour training where you learn all about the How, What, Where, When and Why of EFT and how to teach it to other people.

Prenatal Yoga

Feel good, safe, connected and at home in your ever-changing body, and build a supportive community of people in similar stages of the birthing process. Beginners to yoga will enjoy these gentle classes and experienced practitioners can benefit from slowing down a little and honoring the changes in their bodies.

This class is open to pregnant students who have received the “OK” from their caregiver that it is safe to exercise. Appropriate for any stage of pregnancy and any level of yoga practice – even if you have never done yoga before!

As your body changes in preparation for birth, prenatal yoga helps you to focus on your body and new baby in a deeper way. Moving through postures and breathwork can help you feel more confident and comfortable in your body. Classes focus on easing the discomforts, aches, and fatigue caused by pregnancy while strengthening muscles helpful for the birthing process. Focused breathing techniques for use in labor round out the practice.

  • Relief from common physical discomforts
  • Connect with other moms-to-be
  • Strengthen muscles that will support your growing belly
  • Learn breathing techniques that relax the body and help during labor
  • Increases circulation + reduces swelling, providing more blood flow and oxygen to the baby
It is recommended that you practice on your own yoga mat to prevent the spread of germs and sip water to stay cool. Dress for movement.

“It really allowed me the chance to be calm and focus, which has been a bit of a struggle during pregnancy! I feel like the breathing techniques and labor positions I learned will really help me during my delivery.” ~ Nikki W.

“Time for myself!  I appreciate the postures, stretches, and focus on the different areas of concern that the group has each week, but also really just enjoy taking the time out of my week to be calm, still, focus on myself and my inside baby.” ~ Sara S.

“Prenatal yoga is not only a great workout for while you are pregnant, but it’s a great fellowship with other moms.  The pace of the yoga is perfect for the pregnant body.” ~ Brittany E.

“I appreciate the postures, stretches, and focus on different areas of concern that the group has each week, but also really enjoy taking the time out of my week to be calm, still, focus on myself and my inside baby”

“The atmosphere was wonderful! It was lovely taking time to bond with other pregnant ladies as well as my baby!” ~ A. Avery

“I love connecting with other pregnant women and sharing our triumphs and challenges. I also love and value yoga in my life significantly. Attending prenatal yoga has been the most powerful, rewarding, and FUN experience of my pregnancy so far. I look forward to class each week; it’s definitely a weekly highlight.” ~ Emma B.

“I love this class! Every week I look forward to coming and just taking some time to relax and forget about all the stressful things in life. Annie makes it so easy to follow what she is doing and making sure she gives an explanation as to what every move will do to help stretch out our bodies and release all the tension we have. The class is always different every week depending on the different parts of the body that most of us need to stretch and I love that she always asks what’s bothering us so we can make that one of the target practices for the night. I would recommend this class to any pregnant women out there. The most rewarding thing about this class is 1. that you get to meet so many woman who know exactly how you feel when it comes to pregnancy. it is so important to build relationships with people, but it is nice to have others to relate too. and 2. just being able to take time for myself to relax my mind and body.” ~ T. Fiore

“Prenatal yoga is amazing and I am so glad I began attending! It is a much needed break from my crazy life, and I leave feeling so refreshed and calm. It stays with me for the next few days, and physically I never feel better.” ~ Heather H.

Baby Yoga

Baby Yoga is a wonderful experience that nurtures the parent-child connection. Classes will focus on movements that are beneficial for babies, along with some postures for parents. Through gentle guided movement, massage, and song, parents will bond with their infant while encouraging emotional and physical development. No prior yoga experience is required.

Guided group discussions will lead to a deeper understanding of infant development while building a supportive community. Baby Yoga classes are a safe place to share and connect with other new parents.

For the best experience, we suggest babies begin this class anytime after 6 weeks postpartum and may continue until they begin crawling.

Benefits for Baby:

  • Physical stimulation aids in the development of the brain and nervous system
  • Promotes bonding and social stimulation
  • Poses and gentle stretches aid in digestion, constipation and help relieve gas
  • Physical movement helps promote longer sleep stretches

  • Learn fun songs and ways to interact and bond with baby

Little Family Yoga

Little Family Yoga combines unique toddler and preschooler-friendly yoga poses with songs, stories, and games to create an enriching parent/child activity. Each class is personalized around the children’s curiosities as they learn yoga though social interaction, repetition, and play. Children walking-4 years also learn how to relieve frustration, improve motor skills, and increase attention span by actively following directions. Help your child build the foundation for a healthy and fit lifestyle while having fun! No yoga experience is required. In Little Family Yoga class, younger siblings are welcome to come to class too! Finally, a program suitable for more than one child in a family!
Please dress for movement. Yoga mats are not used for this class.

“I wanted to share that Olivia was completely out of sorts this morning from being so overtired and recovered so quickly after practicing yoga. Her morning afterwards was so much better! She still remembers a lot from her yoga classes. I actually don’t know what I would do some days without yoga!:) Thanks for being such a driving force for children’s yoga…it’s so important for them to have it in their lives!! Take care, Rachel”

Why session based classes for this age group, versus drop-in?

We engage toddlers/preschoolers in yoga practice in ways that are meaningful, appropriate, and inviting to them! This means our classes will look quite different from an adult yoga class (no experience necessary!) as we regularly incorporate music, creative movement, props, stories, games, etc. Toddlers/Preschoolers THRIVE on repetition, familiarity, and predictability and to honor this we unfortunately do not offer a drop-in option for the Tot or Little Family classes. The session-based classes provide children with the opportunity they need to become familiar with the instructor, the group, and the routine established in class. This truly makes a difference in the atmosphere of the class and foster’s children’s confidence, participation, and overall well-being. If you find after a few classes that it’s truly not a good fit for your family, please talk to the instructor or the office and we’ll gladly work with you. We strive to make our young yogi’s practice fulfilling for them!
